More dye added:
There is a temporary increase before a decline to equilibrium. Adding a large amount of dye on the partially saturated mixture is eventually too much for the water to hold any more dye. As a result, the water temporarily increases in total dissolved solids before losing saturation when the water returns to its highest stable saturation level.
