Dr. Chandler received his BA in Neuroscience from Hamilton College in Clinton, NY. He then went on to receive his PhD in Neuroscience from Drexel University with Dr. Barry Waterhouse where he investigated circuit-specific features of locus coeruleus neurons innervating various regions of the cortex. Dr. Chandler’s post-doctoral training was in the laboratory of Dr. Olivier Berton at the University of Pennsylvania where he investigated circuit-specific stress-induced adaptations in the prefrontal corticalàdorsal raphe nucleus pathway. The Chandler Lab was subsequently established in the Department of Cell Biology and Neuroscience at Rowan University SOM in 2016 and has since been focused elucidating mechanisms for stress-induced anxiety-like behavior within the locus coeruleus.
John Tkaczynski is a PhD candidate. He received his BS in Biochemistry from Rowan University in 2016. He is currently investigating a role for delta opioid receptors in the noradrenergic locus coeruleus in mediating the behavioral response to acute stress.
Arthur Anthony A. Reyes is a DO/PhD student. He received his BS degrees in Cell Biology & Neuroscience, Psychology, and Public Health from Rutgers University in 2014. He then obtained his MS in Molecular Microbiology & Immunology from Johns Hopkins University in 2016. Arthur's research investigates how chronic stress and neuroinflammation interact to alter the function of the noradrenergic nucleus locus coeruleus.
Olga Borodovitsyna joined the Chandler lab in 2016 and successfully defended her thesis "Effect of acute stress on locus coeruleus physiological properties and stress-induced anxiety in male rats" in April 2021. Prior to joining the Chandler Lab, Olga received her MD from Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry in 2012.
