About RevED

Welcome to the Revolutionizing Engineering Diversity (RevED) website of Rowan University. The website contains information on the transformative change process including curricular and extra-curricular reform being implemented in the Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) Department at Rowan University. We also document how the transformative changes made in the department will increase inclusion and improve retention and graduation rates of all students. The motivation for our project arises from the strong commitment that our department faculty have to student success and a belief that a diverse engineering workforce results in the most innovative engineering designs and solutions. Our definition of diversity is broad and includes historically underserved groups in engineering such as racial/ethnic minorities, women, LGBTQ, differently abled, veterans, first generation college students, students of low socioeconomic status, and any other visible and invisible differences. We are identifying widely implementable strategies that will make engineering the profession of choice for all. We also welcome the opportunity to learn from others and therefore provide a means by which engineering and non-engineering faculty can post ideas through the blog. Updates to the website will be almost daily and we encourage you to check back frequently.

This important project is funded through the National Science Foundation’s REvolutionizing engineering and computer science Departments (RED) program. Nineteen projects have been funded through NSF’s RED program, and RevED is part of the RED Consortium.
