Research Interests
Dr. Dankel is primarily interested in acute and chronic adaptations to blood flow restricted exercise. This involves placing pneumatic cuffs at the most proximal part of the limbs during aerobic or resistance exercise and helps promote greater adaptations when compared to the same exercise performed without restricting blood flow.
Dr. Dankel is also interested in using blood flow restricted electrical stimulations as a means of increasing adherence to physical activity particularly for those who may have difficulty performing voluntary exercise. In addition to researching ways to increase exercise adherence and chronic adaptations, Dr. Dankel is interested in examining how blood flow restriction may be used to alleviate pain or discomfort and how pain or discomfort contributes to muscle fatigue.
