Principal Investigator
Daniel F. Manvich, Ph.D.
Dr. Manvich is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cell Biology and Neuroscience at Rowan SOM. He received his B.S. in Biopsychology from Tufts University in 2003 and his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Emory University in 2011. He is trained in the disciplines of behavioral pharmacology and behavioral neuroscience and enjoys combining techniques and approaches from these two fields in his research efforts. Outside of lab, Dr. Manvich enjoys taking nature walks around the campus to check in on our native wildlife that includes birds, rabbits, deer, snapping turtles, hawks, groundhogs, and tons of geese and ducks. Away from work, he can usually be found playing and watching soccer, spending quality time with his family and pets, or overloading a shopping cart with awesome (and usually unnecessary) items at Target!
Students
Nicole Hinds, B.A.
Ph.D. Student
Nicole is currently a Ph.D. student at Rowan SOM GSBS. She graduated from Rowan University in 2015, where she studied Biochemistry and worked under the mentorship of Dr. Gregory Caputo. While an undergraduate, she assisted in research aimed at characterizing the self-assembly of conductive peptide-porphyrin aggregates. In the years to follow, Nicole taught Chemistry for Atlantic Cape Community College and ran an Emergency Services Organization in her home town of Buena Vista Township, NJ. Nicole is broadly interested in neuropharmacology and is currently working to assess the neural circuitry underlying drug-seeking behavior and various coping strategies in response to psychosocial stress. While not in the lab or studying, Nicole enjoys spending time with her husband, and hiking with her sister.
Corinne Gallagher, B.S.
Ph.D. Student
Corinne graduated from West Chester University of Pennsylvania in 2021 with a B.S. in Chemistry-Biology and a minor in Psychology. While at West Chester, she carried out research focused on the functional antagonism of anxiety-like effects of psychostimulants in mice under the mentorship of Dr. Eric Sweet. As a Ph.D. student, Corinne is interested in behavioral pharmacology and neuropharmacology and is working to determine the role of the locus coeruleus in driving stress-mediated opioid use. Outside of Rowan, Corinne enjoys playing rugby with her home club team and being outdoors.
Research Assistants
I. Dawid Wojtas, M. Sc.
Research Teaching Specialist
Dawid graduated from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland with a Master's of Science degree in Biology and Biotechnology in 2001. He worked at the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Centre National de la Recherché Scientifique CNRS in Strasbourg, France before accepting a position as an Analytic & Technological Expert in the Analytic Laboratory Pharmaceutical Concern “Finepharm Sp. z o. o.” in Jelenia Gora, Poland, where he rose through the ranks to manage a research laboratory. Dawid's adventurous nature soon brought him to the USA, where he started a pre-doctoral fellowship in the lab of Dr. Rameshwar Sharma in the Department of Cell Biology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in, Stratford, NJ. Dawid has worked at UMDNJ (now currently Rowan SOM) since 2011, and joined the Manvich Lab in August 2018. Outside the laboratory, Dawid can be found spending time with his family on a camping trip, climbing the peaks, participating in cave trips or kayaking. After sunset, you can meet him enjoying regional cuisine with his companions or friends. He loves to watch football and soccer games, and is not ashamed to admit his fondness for romantic or animated films, which he watches during Friday movie nights with his wife and two daughters.
