June 2025: International Symposium on Neurovirology
Dr. Caitlin Tice presented a poster titled “Neuroinflammation and Glymphatic Dysfunction in HIV-Associated Neurocognitive Disorders” at the 2025 International Symposium on NeuroVirology. The presentation featured new spatial proteomics data from postmortem frontal cortex tissue of people living with HIV, highlighting increased expression of neurodegenerative and inflammatory proteins. The findings support a model in which inflammation-driven mislocalization of aquaporin-4 (AQP4) contributes to glymphatic failure and cognitive decline in HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders (HAND). The work was supported by NIH funding (R21NS131101).

May 2025: Research Day at Rowan-Virtua SOM
Dr. Caitlin Tice was an invited speaker at the 2025 Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine Research Day, where she gave a talk titled “CTE and Parkinson’s: A Convergence of Neurodegenerative Processes.” Her lecture addressed overlapping mechanisms of mitochondrial stress, synaptic dysfunction, and inflammation across traumatic brain injury and Parkinsonian syndromes.
Congratulations to Iman Hasan, a medical student working in the lab, who received an award for her poster presentation at the event. Her research focused on identifying molecular signatures of neuroinflammation in chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). Iman will begin the D.O./Ph.D. program at Rowan in Fall 2025.

March 2025
Congratulations to Iman Hasan for winning Image of the Year at Rowan-Virtua SOM’s 2025 Research Imaging Showcase. Her submission, “Hippocampal Tissue Sample with Medial-Temporal Epilepsy,” was recognized for both its scientific and visual excellence. Iman conducted this work while in Dr. Dianne Langford’s lab, where she was mentored by Dr. Caitlin Tice throughout her research training.

November 2024: Dr. Tice Appointed as Instructor at Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine
In November 2024, Dr. Caitlin Tice transitioned from her postdoctoral position to a full-time faculty appointment as Instructor at Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine. In this new role, she leads her own research program focused on neuroinflammation, glymphatic dysfunction, and neurodegenerative disease, while continuing to mentor medical and graduate students and contribute to neuroscience education and outreach across the university.
