The Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC) works with Rowan University inventors to ensure understanding and compliance with the university's patent policies and procedures. OTC provides guidance and expertise on intellectual property matters and encourages inventors to contact the office early in their process to discuss their invention. Our staff members screen inventions and discoveries made in university facilities for patentability, commercial potential, and general marketability. We assess the value of the invention for patent protection and, if appropriate, file patent applications at no cost to the inventor. We then market Rowan's patents, prepare and negotiate confidentiality, material transfer and licensing agreements with companies interested in commercializing the invention.
