WaterWorks Activities
WaterWorks is a package of tools to assist educators and students to be exposed to how water/wastewater utilities work, their needs and skills required for the new generation of workforce. It not only uses conventional hands on activities but the use of new transformative technology such as Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality to bring these utilities to life for the end user. The use of these innovative technology will revolutionize and excite the way information is being provided to the new generation.
WaterMOBILE
WaterMOBILE - includes a hands-on mobile learning environment that will be steered into classrooms for demonstrations of activities about forces of water (pumps and pipes), water treatment (removal of pollutants using physical/chemical processes), water pollution, the role of soils for buried pipes and construction materials, such as concrete for water/sewer pipes. The WaterMOBILE is a low-cost and simple mobile ecosystem that can be easily adopted by school districts and implemented in classrooms. Each activity will also be connected to the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards for science. As such it complements the WaterPal app by bringing visual hands on experiences. Each activity will be connected to careers and the level of education required for the specific job.
WaterPAL
WaterPAL - One activity that will energize students/educators about the water/wastewater workforce includes the use of an app, WaterPAL, that facilitates the implementation of hands-on activities and demonstrations that are mapped to local curriculum standards. The New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards for science provide detailed learning goals for subjects including Physical Science, Life Science and Earth Systems Science for grades beginning with 2nd up to 12th Grade. WaterTALK
WaterTalk - The Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of connected objects equipped with sensors that monitor the surrounding environment and communicate sensory data/control signals via local networks or the Internet. Objects that form parts of the IoT are described as 'smart' and extend beyond traditional devices such as laptops, tablets, cell phones smart thermostats, light bulbs, and even toothbrushes. WaterCAVE
WaterCAVE - The Virtual Reality (VR) Center at Rowan University is an enterprise funded by government (Federal and State) and industry (local, national and international). It consists of a team of experts who develop innovative virtual reality and augmented reality applications. The VR Center, located at the Rowan/Rutgers Joint Health Sciences Center in Camden, New Jersey, and the South Jersey Tech Park in Mantua, New Jersey, offers a one-of-a-kind collaborative environment built to support cutting-edge research by the University's students and faculty for community, nonprofit, government, and corporate clients.
