The Office of Technology Commercialization

Innovation is at the heart of Rowan Research, and every day Rowan faculty and students are developing new technologies in cutting-edge disciplines such as medicine, pharmaceutical, computing and engineering. The Office of Technology Commercialization works closely with faculty and industry to bridge the gap between the lab and the market place.

The Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC) serves faculty, staff and students in all aspects of intellectual property. Our mission is to manage, protect, and license to industry, the intellectual property developed and created at Rowan University while creating economic value in the South Jersey region/area and supporting regional, state, and national economic development.

More specifically, OTC:

● Protects and manages Rowan's intellectual property (IP)
● Evaluates the patentability and commercial value of technologies
● Negotiates agreements (such as MTA, NDA, IIA, options, license, etc.)
● Promotes new and existing industry and government relationships
● Markets and licenses commercially viable technologies
● Ensures university compliance with federal regulations related to IP
● Educates university researchers on IP and the technology-transfer process
