Rowan University’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) animal welfare program is dedicated to the ethical and humane use of animals in research, teaching, and testing and to ensure all applicable laws and regulations are followed. Animal research at Rowan University includes the coordination and support of various departments and offices throughout the organization, and animal researchers at Rowan are trained and made aware of the legal and ethical implications of using animals in research, teaching, or testing. Rowan University animal researchers make every attempt to reduce pain and distress as much as possible and treat their animals humanely.

Animal Research

Animal research contributes has been instrumental in the understanding and development of important treatments for a wide range of human diseases. Every known medical breakthrough drug has a basis in animal research and all of the top 25 most prescribed drugs were developed with the assistance of animal models.
