Cannabis/Marijuana and Hemp is regulated by federal and state authorities. Specifically, in New Jersey, while recreational use has become legal, it is still illegal pertaining to federal law. Rowan University must follow and adhere to federal regulations.

Rowan University faculty or staff that want to conduct research using cannabis, marijuana, or hemp products must take every precaution and cannot just purchase cannabis, marijuana, hemp, or CBD from a commercial source. Specific registrations will be required to handle, even in the case of research, cannabis, marijuana, hemp, or CBD materials and products.
