NSF PUI Eligibility Changes

As of June 1, 2021, Rowan University is no longer considered a National Science Foundation (NSF) Predominantly Undergraduate Institution (PUI) because it has exceeded the threshold of 20 Ph.D. graduates in NSF-supported fields during the previous two years. As a result, Rowan is not eligible to submit Research in Undergraduate Institutions (RUI) proposals.

Changes to NSF Biosketch and Current/Pending Templates

As of May 2024, the National Science Foundation (NSF) requires the use of NSF-approved formats for Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support documents submitted with proposals. Investigators must prepare these documents using either SciENcv (Science Experts Network Curriculum Vitae) or the NSF fillable PDF forms, in accordance with the Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide (PAPPG) (NSF 20-1).

Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending Support Websites

  • The NSF Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending Support websites include links to NSF forms instructions.
  • NSF recommends users utilize SciENvc to generate your biosketch. Please keep in mind that Synergistic Activities is now a separate on-page document. Key personnel are required to disclose contracts associated with participation in foreign governments, instrumentalities or entities, including foreign government-sponsored talent recruitment programs. Individuals are prohibited from participating in malign foreign talent recruitment programs.
  • The following certification must be completed on each Biosketch: "I certify that the information provided is current, accurate, and complete. This includes but is not limited to information related to domestic and foreign appointments and positions. I also certify that, at the time of submission, I am not a party in a malign foreign talent recruitment program. Misrepresentations and/or omissions may be subject to prosecution and liability pursuant to, but not limited to, 18 U.S.C. §§ 287, 1001, 1031 and 31 U.S.C. §§ 3729-3733 and 3802."
  • PIs and co-PIs must include an NSF-approved format for Current and Pending Support when notifying NSF that active other support has changed since the award was made, or since the most recent annual report
